Wet-Felting Fun

Fall is a great time to explore felting! This fall we offered two occasions for wet-felting for all ages using two different techniques. The first project was an apple house, with red wool batting felted around a balloon, which was later popped. A sweet little mouse to live in the house was the perfect conclusion to the project.

Another sunny afternoon found us rolling up our sleeves for a wet workout with wool. We began by selecting our wool colors and laying them out to make the scene of our choice. There were ponds and rivers, forests and fields, mountains and farmyards. Then came the hard work with the approximately 2' square landscapes tightly rolled and dipped in soapy water. They were rolled and rolled, rolled and rolled, then finally rinsed and spread out to dry. The result was a large wet-felted landscape sturdy enough to play with.
