It's amazing what skills we possess as a group! We love for our members to share their various areas of knowledge, so we jumped at the chance when a parent who is also an experienced herbalist offered to teach a class to our children.
The younger group met first, and through a delightful story learned that some plants can be used for nourishment or medicine. They tasted many samples, ending with a sip of elderberry syrup and a power ball containing many ingredients from the herbalist's own garden. With the older children, the teacher went into greater depth including detailed plant identification and different preparations of herbs. They created a herbal solution to try out for themselves at home. Everyone learned so much and we're hoping now for an adult class!
